Depends greatly on which netbook you choose, what type of movie you intend to play and who is it you are asking. Mini netbooks are designed specifically for browsing the net, but they are great for a wide variety of tasks. If you choose the right one, you will be able to play the movies you often play, but is selecting all that easy?
Netbooks were first released as some petite tech geek utilities, and they were not good for whatever else than checking e-mails and hopping on the net. YouTube is the most favorite video streaming service online at the moment, and netbooks are the most favorite selection to play videos straight through it, but does all things work perfectly on all models? Not exactly, the older 1.3Ghz models struggled even with appropriate 360p movies, 1.6Ghz ones bleed out when they meet 480p, but if you are lucky enough to have chosen a Lenovo S12 with Nvidia Ion you will be able to stream even 720p pieces. You just have to make sure you are using the right flash version so the graphics chip helps the processor.
